Session #1 - Aug 20, 2022
Team Kick-Off & Trial Bot Building & First Homework
Team Kick-Off & Trial Bot Building & First Homework
We started the first session with some basics for the season:
We agreed that our robot would be EV3-based. Two of the four team members already have an EV3 set, and it is more affordable
Each team member will acquire their own EV3 set. We figured it'll be great if the kids could work by themselves on their bots
75% of the total score are semi-soft factors - Robot Design, Core Values, Innovation Project, and those that need to be presented. We will incorporate and emphasize those a lot during the sessions.
The kids are awesome; we all want to work hard, play hard, and have a lot of fun!
Before the first session, the kids were tasked to build a base robot that can drive and has two sensors. It was one of the base EV3 plans. We will start some basic programming assignments in one of the following sessions.
The first set of homework:
Learn about Energy. What is Energy? How to make, transport, and use? Each child should be ready to hold a 2-3 minute presentation. Kids can use PowerPoint or illustration, but it can also be presented without media.
Set up your EV3 Base Robot. I will send building instructions in a separate email.
Setup the Scratch Software and connect to the EV3. Instructions for that will also come later in a separate email.
Anyone is encouraged to provide ideas for a team logo.
