Testing Photogrammetry and Forming Game Strategy
Testing out Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is a new concept and tool that the team has chosen to explore for their innovation project. To gain a better understanding of how it works and identify best practices, Daniel, Larry, Leon, and Wanying collaborated on testing photogrammetry using 3DF Zephyr. Through their experiment, they outlined the following key steps:
First, take lots of pictures. Each picture has to be taken really carefully.
Any blurry part will be counted as background by the photogrammetry program, 3DF Zephyr.
There should be around 80% of each photo that is overlapping with another photo. The more overlap between photos, the more accurate the program can capture the real object.
Second, plug the photos into the program. In the program, click workflow, then new project, then choose the settings and drag the photos in.
Then, you click run and hope for the best!
They also summarized how Photogrammetry Works
Identifying Key Points: The software detects key points in each photo and cross-references their locations across multiple images.
Calculating Depth: It then calculates distances based on camera positions, adjusting for size differences to avoid distortions.
Filtering Out Problematic Photos: Blurry or distorted images may be eliminated by the program to improve accuracy.
Building the 3D Model: Finally, the software connects the key points and merges the images to generate a detailed 3D object.
Check out some fun experiements below!
Ocean Farming Model
Jason and Olivia took the lead in presenting ideas to enhance the ocean farming model the team had initially built using LEGO. They’ve been brainstorming ways to not only improve its functionality but also make the model more engaging and fun. Their focus is on incorporating creative elements and interactive features to make the concept stand out.
Game Strategy
Meanwhile, Brandon, Reina, and Wanying tackled a crucial task—continuing the assessment of the team's game strategy. They’ve analyzed the existing framework and proposed several key updates based on core strategic principles. These updates have sparked an enthusiastic discussion among the team. Ideas are flowing around refining game mechanics, strategies to save time, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the robot.
